Chapter 7: The Smudged Handprints

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

This eerie feeling is exactly the same as when I walked out of the steakhouse yesterday. I lifted my head, wiped the cleanser from around my eyes, and through the mirror, I saw Vivi staring at me.

Weiwei remained silent for a while, and only then did her expression soften somewhat: "Did you really not hear what that woman said?"

"Say." Weiwei coldly uttered a single word.

However, as I look at the entire counter, it is quite strange that there have been no new brands or varieties of wine for a whole year

These are all new products, arranged in order, so do not place them incorrectly. The manager's voice was low, yet I still heard it

I clearly remember that the handprint of that crazy woman was right there. In the afternoon, I went home and took Weiwei out for dinner. After eating, I went home to sleep. During this time, I had no opportunity to deal with these handprints

I took a large mouthful of water, rinsed away the foam in my mouth, and dried the corners of my mouth with a towel, only to discover that Weiwei had somehow stood behind me.

"Say it." Weiwei's tone became somewhat more emphatic

I was still feeling anxious, so I hurriedly explained: "No, yesterday this glass..."

I truly find myself at a loss with this quirky Weiwei. For so many years, it has almost always been this way, accompanied by books. If she does not "torment" me, I find myself rather unaccustomed to it.

Until I dried the water off my face, Weiwei stood there motionless, staring at me as if she were examining a criminal

I casually spoke a sentence, then brought the hot water to my face, inhaling the scent of the facial cleanser I was applying, yet I felt a scrutinizing gaze fixed on me from behind

Last night, someone set off firecrackers, didn't they? I didn't hear a single sound; I only remember hearing that crazy woman's hoarse voice

You startled me. I neatly folded the towel and placed it on the rack

"Yes, yes, yes, how could I think of a madman?" I smiled helplessly, deciding not to dwell on the matters that had puzzled me earlier; it was all just the troubles of a petty person.

I advised her several times, but she insisted on buying a few bottles of good wine for my father. However, there are still so many provisions at home, and with so much purchased this year, we don't even know how to handle it all.

What happened? I saw Weiwei and felt reassured to continue washing my face

"No, she just tapped the car window twice before being pulled away by the security guard, Xiao Liu." I repeated the situation at that time, and only then did Weiwei show a hint of a pleasant expression.

I went downstairs to look for my wallet. I casually made up an excuse and went out

I held the toothbrush, feeling the intense mint flavor in my mouth, spat a mouthful of toothpaste foam into the toilet, and my tongue was already stinging from the sharpness of the toothpaste

With a resounding bang, the firecracker exploded with an exceptionally crisp sound

"That woman, have you encountered her again?" Weiwei's tone was somewhat cold

Do not be so glib

What one buys is of little importance; the key is the thought behind it

Wei Wei paused for a moment, appearing to have guessed something, and continued, "Oh, I see, you have something you are hiding from me, don't you?"

Moreover, there is more than one dirty fingerprint, and it is impossible to clean them thoroughly in a short period of time

If it hasn't rained, then how did those dirty handprints disappear

At that moment, I suddenly remembered that the crazy woman had left several handprints on my car window yesterday. To prevent Weiwei from seeing them and getting angry, I immediately grabbed my coat and headed downstairs

Just as I was thinking this, someone pushed a small cart over, and the manager also helped to take out bottles of wine from the cart and placed them on the counter

This is a tremendous injustice. How could I possibly have anything to hide from her? I hurriedly tried to explain, but it always felt like no matter how many mouths I had, I could never make myself clear in front of her.

"You must believe me, there is truly only you in my heart." A multitude of thoughts suddenly flooded my mind, yet I dismissed all those methods; expressing my true feelings seemed the most appropriate.

This suddenly leaves me at a loss for words. Could it be that Weiwei is feeling jealous?

After circling the liquor counter for a long time, Weiwei finally picked up a bottle of white liquor: "Uncle has always been drinking this kind of liquor, right? Otherwise, I might as well buy this bottle again this year"

I looked at Weiwei with curiosity, not understanding why she was like this, as if there were no matter in this world more important than this one

"Look at you, feeling wronged; I was just teasing you." Weiwei had a triumphant expression.

After I took that nap, I woke up feeling refreshed, and my head no longer hurt as much as it did yesterday. I walked to the window, pulled back the curtains, and saw quite a few firecracker remnants scattered on the ground

"What are you thinking about? Why aren't you driving yet?" Weiwei interrupted my thoughts with a single sentence

What is there to appreciate about a glass?

Weiwei burst into laughter from behind: "You slept like a dead pig last night, it would be strange if you could hear anything. I was the one who got up to close the window."

As I leaned closer to the glass, I suddenly noticed a shadow behind me, and Weiwei's voice startled me from behind

"What a lunatic." I muttered to myself in self-deprecation

As the New Year approaches, let's go choose a few good bottles of wine for your father, " Weiwei said as she opened the car door and got in.

The ground around is dry, with a few more red firecracker remnants than in previous days, and it does not appear as if it rained last night

This sudden occurrence sent a shiver down my spine; the crazy woman from yesterday made quite a loud noise when she knocked on the car window, and it even reminded me of what she said to me in my dream.

The daily routine is quite monotonous; if it weren't for Weiwei being by my side, I would truly find it very dull

I endure the prickling sensation of mint, such a vivid feeling, that I still find myself thinking about the events that occurred in my dreams

I rarely sleep so soundly that I didn't even notice Wei Wei getting up, it seems to be all due to that nightmare's "contribution"

At this moment, I looked at Weiwei and found her somewhat unfamiliar, slowly becoming someone I seemed not to recognize. However, fearing that misunderstandings might deepen, I recounted the incident from yesterday afternoon when I encountered the madwoman at the company entrance

Before I could say anything, Weiwei warned me, "From now on, you are not allowed to think about other women; you can only have me in your heart."

I am puzzled: "How strange, it really is true that what you think comes to pass. Just as I was lamenting the lack of new products, new items have been put on the shelves."

"If you have another woman outside, just wait and see how I will tell your parents about it." Weiwei shot me a glance, raised her chin, and let out a soft hum

No, it is really...

Sitting in the car, I did not start the engine, pondering that yesterday Weiwei was with me, yet I did not notice her wiping the dirty handprints on the window

Weiwei furrowed her brows and looked at me with her hands on her hips: "What happened to this glass? I noticed it was dirty when I got in the car yesterday, so I just wiped it with a tissue."

All the way, Weiwei was playing on her phone, as if she were sulking at me, not saying a single word

It is strange, where have those fingerprints gone

Seeing her expression, it seemed she had let it go. I also breathed a sigh of relief in my heart and chuckled, "Who would dare? Besides, who could be as good-looking as our Weiwei, with such a figure..."

Upon arriving at the parking space in front of the mall, Weiwei finally opened the door and got out of the car, linking her arm with mine as if nothing had happened, displaying an appearance of intimacy
